Lotus Europa.
A Tamiya kit from 1999,started it the other day and am doing it as a double with the other mad Irishman Shay..
Got the X frame done.
I used a factory authorised body mod in order to get the frame and engine with carbs to fit,it's on page 127 of the factory manual if you want to check...
The colour is Ford vision using a genuine Ford can,but rats knackers....I ran out and the front is light on blue and the engine cover needs doing too..

Re: Lotus Europa.
Nice lookin car.
Frame seems strange, heavy, and high. But I suppose that's the way are. I woulda thought the driver would be just inches off the ground. Or does he/she sit alongside the center beam?

These are a nice little kit, and you're of to a good start.
The seats are alongside the centre beam on these Clay.

You got it in one Clay, imagine your right arm laying along the centre frame to reach the gear shift, that will give you an idea on the seating position.
So in effect you are sitting inside the cars structure, the body is only glass fibre so adds little to the vehicles strength.

Great work guys.
Classic colour choice Shay.
Interesting mod Nige, what was fouling?
I have this one in my stash, sent to me by Nigel. I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with the pinstripe decals.

Re: Lotus Europa.
Decals broke up in water, they were still sealed and looked fine.....
Very dissapointing as the gold looked great on the black paint.
Should have clearcoated them first, but then hindsight is 20/20 vision as they say.

Re: Lotus Europa.
Al,it was the carbs that fouled in the body probably cos I didn't bother reading the destruction sheet...

Re: Lotus Europa.
Thanks for that Nige. Looks like the carbs are fitted OK to me. Maybe Tamiya screwed up.
