Very cool build, I mean VERY COOL! But that guy, he looks sooo happy, I'm chuckling looking at him. Thanks for a really great addition to any collection!

Well I got her finished tonight.

I'm not very happy with the final fit of the upper tank. Wether that's down to a vac formed body (it's very flexible and difficult to work with) or just my lack of experience working with vac formed bodies, is hard to tell.

Whatever, it is what it is and I at least had fun scratch building the chassis.

I know there is at least one resin kit out there by California Model Works

http://gpma.org/dkbelly.html

and I am sure I have seen another but cannot find it again.

If you are going to build one and assuming you are willing to pay the price for resin, go for it. Your build should be MUCH easier.

If you find where to buy a resin BT, please let me know as I'd like to build another.

Al, It just rocks. I think you have captured the Belly TRank Look completely and with a Hudson engine no less.

I was going to build another unlimited, but I built on the other end of the spectrum, a K/GS, aka 500cc streamliner. Only have to hit 203mph for the record. Old record is 24 years old. NA 61cu.in. on gas sounds about right. I'm claiming to use a 2-cylinder, 2-cycle, 499cc, Rotax 494 with WAVE heads, producing about 115hp on gas. But it will really be a curbside model.

I know this is late but the other option was never and that wouldn't work. those of you that followed the build know what my Inspiration was, the idea was to build a pre World War II Bonneville Race car. I saw a car at The Run to the End of the World on the dash was a plaque that said it had gone 87.49 MPH. The body is an AMT 1932 Ford Phaeton. The Chassis is a Revell 1930 Model A.The engine is a Model a Ford with a Riley Overhead Valve Conversion. Exhaust is 3/32 Aluminum tube. No muffler just a straight pipe. The thing didn't make enough horsepower to be loud. Gear shift lever is a straight pin. License plate is 1939 Washington State. I added Fuel lines, spark plug wires, brake lines and a clutch slave cylinder and lines. I figured the juice brakes would be a nice upgrade and had been around since 1936 on Fords so it was a natural. Firewall is from the junkyard, not really sure what it was off of.

Thanks for looking in. Sorry about the delay getting it finished.

If you would like to see more here is a slide show link.

'And the Midnight Auto Slavage car roll's over the finish line at 87.65mph, setting a new class record"

Better late than never Buck. Now it's a monkey off your back!! LOL

I think you have captured the look of a home spun pre-war Bonneville car just righ! The plumbing and wiring are spot on.

For quite a while, I have been slowly going through the large Vintage photos thread on the HAMB site. I was surprised to come across this, which shows that my salt racer may have ended up in Saskatchewan Canada !!
