PB2Y-5 CORONADO 1/72
Ahoy
Here is another flying boat here is a build you never see on the internet, This is a old Vacuform kit by Sutcliff out of England. I had this kit since 1975 like that of the Globemaster a very difficult kit to assemble like most vacu-form kits there are no interior parts that have to be constructed by the modeler .... Between the Martin Mars and the Coronado they were used through out the war as transports and emergency air ambulances most of these flying boats were used out of the war zone The Coronado was stricken from the naval register as late as 1946. Only one example is left in the entire world, it use to belong to the great late Mr. Howard Hughes............ When I was in the navy stationed at Long Beach naval yard at the north field hanger Hughes Coronado use to be parked on the tarmac paointed in red oxide anti fouling paint with the two outboard wing panels removed. After Mr. Hughes death the Coronado was restored as a object sentimentle for the crews who flew the Coronado.
Franklyn.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a flying boat! Awesome and looks bigger than the "Catalina" was!
