HMS Nelson

This is the Tamiya 1/700 HMS Nelson. One of Tamiya's earliest waterline kit, but also a good one. The ship was OOB, no extras. The water effects were created using Derivan medium gel, Derivan mini paints and gloss varnish. Thanks for looking.

Not too knowledgeable on warships (not at all, actually), But the superstructure looks more rearward than most. Pretty gun heavy forward. Doesn't the majority of battleships have heavy guns facing rearward also ?

I think this ship was a 'victim' of the Washington Naval Treaty. During construction they sawed off the back half. :D

Isn't it amazing that the battleship is so impressive looking, so powerful, and now it is nearly obsolete. It was a sad end that in the '80s we used one to shell Beirut to no great effect beyond killing people and destroying civilian buildings. Those 16" (?) guns just appear so strong. Time and technology change everything. Glad there are examples for history and future generations to study.
