USS Belleau Wood
This is my interpretation of the USS Belleau Wood, a Revell kit in 1/700 scale (using the USS Independence kit). The additions include decals from the Dragon 'Belleau Wood' kit and a set of aircraft from my spares box. This kit was bad on so many levels. I had to canibalise the decals from another kit because the ones supplied were totally inadequate. There were also only two aircraft supplied with the kit.

Looks great, By decals I am guessing you are talking about the lines on the deck?

Another great model and ship I have never seen. From the looks it appears to be, like some of the carriers, a conversion as much as a purpose built carrier. I agree, having a good number of planes aboard add realism and visual "pop!" Thanx!

Thanks for your comment!
Yes, the USS Belleau Wood was originally started as a light cruiser of the Cleveland class but was converted during construction and became a light carrier of the Independence class. Here are some photos for comparison of both types of ships.

Re: USS Belleau Wood
Big difference between the two. The changes really show up when you compare it to another ship of it's class. Thanx for that Chris. 8)

Ahoy Chris
Very Very Well done you can see the difference in the hulls I had no idea the Belieau wood was built from a converted Cruiser hull. there were some baby flat tops that were built from Ex- oiler hulls and C2 and C3 merchantmen . yours looks wonderful I can hear those TBFs on the flight deck. Hardy Well Done.
