Fireball 500
I finished her up tonight.
All in all it's a pretty crappy kit. Crap chassis, a so so engine at best, huge gaps to the fenders/inner fenders, crappy interior.
Still it is what it is and it's a build completed which was meant to be done about eight years ago.
I was very tempted to lower the suspension all round (easy enough as it has those horrible metal axles!!) but the real deal in the film rides quite high, so I left it as is.
I still have the trailer to do and when that's complete, I'll post some more photos of it with the trailer and the GTX racecar.

That is one kit you don't see built very often. Awesome job on the paint. Just like the movie.

Re: Fireball 500
Sam liked this one so he sent me another to do for him. That was before last Christmas and I've been dragging my heels ever since. In my defense, it did take four attempts to get the paint right. For some reason the base coats this time kept coming out rough like sandpaper.
Anyway it's done now,
On the way soon Sam.

Nice results for what sounds like a dog. The plymouth looks good as well.

Re: Fireball 500
I remember when you started this kit and what web site it was we were building a forum project for. Great job on them both Al.

They both look good Al. Did you use a different base coat for Sam's? It seems the colors are not as dark.

Re: Fireball 500
I'm in total agreement, GREAT WORK! Both have the great fogging of the paint. I used to do the same, and yes, sometimes distance and how thick or thin the coat of paint went on determines rough smooth or runs!
What I've learned at these clubs and foto sharing sites is that the worst kits can look good with a few changes and good paint. Yours here are all fabulous!

Re: Fireball 500
Thanks guys.
Denis, there is a tad of difference but not as much as in the last photos. The individual photos are MUCH nearer the mark although they too are somewhat over exposed.
I recently came across this one and think it would make an awesome static build. Great use for the body by using or scratchbuilding a different chassis.

This looks awesome Sir , I love how you manage to get the tree colours blending into one another, also love the trailer, is that a kit or did you scratch build it...

John..... I'm not much of a show car guy myself but I built this one as part of a 'Movie' car group build.
Then Sam mugged me to build his too!!!!
