Model Cabinet Madness
Aldi glass cabinets. All good, but the shelves are a good 12 inches apart, so not much display space. Brainwave: find local plastic specialist.
Get shelves cut to size. Add clear tube as supports and presto! A cabinet that had 4 shelves and could hold 16 cars now holds 48.
Cabinet on the left will be Buick & Oldsmobile, and I can rescue some aircraft from the dust on the right.

Cool Idea and it looks very nice. I use an old store display cabinet for mine and the single clear plastic cases. Then some get put into the boxes they came in for storage. I also like to display the old box behind the build...need to find a few boxes for ones I have yet someday.

Re: Model Cabinet Madness
HiChris, I had those cabinets for many years. My solution was to glue in narrow strips of glass to support the new shelves with glass glue, but you idea is far superior. Well done.

Al, I was going to glue the supports to the new shelves, but since I didn't cut them, the supports were actually square and they sit squarely and are nice and stable.
I'll do a few more today.

Re: Model Cabinet Madness
Update: The Cadillacs have joined the Buicks, the 1/48 planes that were fit to display are next to them. I've given some planes away to mates kids/grandkids, and the 1/48 B-1B is going to hang from a kindergarden ceiling ( not sure what the PC nutters will make of a scale bomber- perhaps paint it white and call it an airliner!)
With the Cadillacs out of the main cabinet, the Corvettes will move in, and the Pontiacs have breathing space. The Connie is covered with paper towel (a hard stare will shed prop blades) and I've resurrected the best of my 1/35 German armour (was there ever a better looking tank than a Panther?) Clear enough?
There will be a pop quiz to see who has been paying attention.
