Catapult!!
and now for something completely different!
a wooden catapult using a leonardo da vinci design
saw this on ebay a while back and it just appealed as something a little different
been wanting to crack on with it ever since it arrived in the post but its a horrible pine colour, so ive picked up some oak stain, ive given it all a coat, dont know if it will need a second, we shall see tomorrow

this is going together very easily as you would expect
looks better now its had a coat of oak stain
i just cant rush too much cos i have to give the pva glue cance to dry
the base
most of the frame together, and a tamiya jar for scale
should have this finished over the weekend

I wonder how many times it can operate before it rips itself apart. Although it does look pretty stout.

Re: Catapult!!
I see kits of this kind of stuff around and never give into the temptation to buy them because I know that I'd wind up causing domestic tension with my play time, lol. Love the idea of using it for cat treat distribution though you'll probably need to dial in the tension at first - don't want to launch the niblets into orbit and all that. The oak stain is an incredible improvement over the natural pine.

well thats the thing about da vinci's design..........all the energy is stored in the two uprights, its not a 'conventional' design, less stress involved

Re: Catapult!!
Nice choice of the stain; not overly dark - just right. It's probably stronger than one thinks because the joints are pegged as well as glued.
A very nice piece.
