1912 Mercer 35 Raceabout - 1/16th Entex (Bandai)
The homemade Ford Model T is going too slowly, so I think I'll get going with another in the meantime. Springtime is here and the flea markets are open again. I came across this one for $20 last week. It looks like most if not all of the parts are here, but no decals, plug wires or belt material for the hood and spare tires. Some of the body parts were painted a fluorescent-like yellow, so they were stripped with oven cleaner and primed. A few pieces have been assembled, but not much. The brass and clear parts are still in the plastic, untouched.
All the yellow and black parts were off the trees.
Brass is still nice and shiny.
Should go a lot smoother than scratchbuilding.

Entex kits were average, neither as bad as some or as good (and pricey) as Tamiya. Looks like a good one, plenty of brass plating. I once began the MPC Stutz, very similar. Hope things go well for you.

I really like these old timers (cars, not necessarily kits) so, looking forward to seeing a cool model !

Re: 1912 Mercer 35 Raceabout - 1/16th Entex (Bandai)
Got most of the framework done, now. Oh yeah, I decided to paint the car white - like the previous owner started. I thought it would look better than the yellow they're often shown as.
It's fun trying to figure out all the parts and where they go and what color they have to be painted when they're all off the sprues.
Thanks,
Mike

White is fine. I'll be interested to see what you do with the engine. The "primitive" Wisconsin engines were a sight to see!

Yep, you did a fine job. My old Stutz MPC 1/25 wasn't as detailed. I needed to make my own tiny valve springs. Nice going!

Gorgeous work! The chassis looks grand and the engine is fantastic. I especially like the waxed thread as clothed cables look (and the black and white photos help add to the 'period' feel).
