PostSubject: 57 Gasser    Sat 14 Apr 2018, 7:00 am

I picked up this kit at the February IPMS Show in San Antonio and decided to build it as a Gasser.

Revell's 57 Cadillac kit stretches back to that era and is a is a clam-shell design with no engine detail ... I plan to change all that up with a bash from the parts box.

First step is attaching the upper and lower hulls into one unit.

More to come and hope I can pull this off. It'll be a nice addition to my 57 Chevy I built in 2009 on the old BMC site and my recent 57 Ford.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

I had a collection of Revell 55 and 56 Chevy parts that will be thrown into the build.

I cut out the molded in frame from the Caddy and used two frames to lengthen the wheel base.  Some patching had to be done and I also cut out the spare tire well.

I did not like how the kit called for the roof  ...  not tight with bad gaps.

I decided to decapitate the 55 Chevy and use its roof on the Caddy; not really close to the Caddy's distinctive shape but I felt it was the better of the two options.

A bit of filling left ..

Dialing the Body in.  I decided to not use the chrome trim.  In doing so, I had to glue it to the body then sand it down to match the contour of the body.  Door lines have been scribed into the body (never a strong point for me).

I widened the tubs to add bigger tires under the fenders.

With adapting the Revell frame I had to remake the interior panels and package shelf ... here is the start.

Thinking about using a BB Chevy (Monogram Item from their flip-front Chevelle I Believe).
