Looking good David. I'll have to try that base colour next time I'm using red.

Though I love the results I'm not sure about the ethical considerations of so much Elf sacrifice for a hobby, lol.
Questions, what kind of black ink do you use to shade the metallic paint? And, is the base metallic an acrylic or enamel?

Agreed, I quite like elves but their flesh is just right for my needs. Nothing personal, lol.
I use water based acrylic paints, Revell Aqua in this case. It's so easy to clean your brushes with water based, smelly turps not needed.
The ink I'm using is Valejo Gaming Ink. Thats water based too so you can control it's intensity by adding a bit water. It absorbs into the paint you're putting it onto nicely.

Re: Lancia Stratos
Great shading job, Dave. I've tried that in the past with little success. The ink always wanted to bead up in the corners. That was with calligraphy ink over Acrylic paints.

Really great work David. Your builds are always so interesting to watch come to life with all your detailing and weathering.

Re: Lancia Stratos
I've been reading classic car magazines for years.
This is the first time I've seen a pic of the V6 with the side mounted gearbox, it really never crossed my mind that it obviously had to be like that given the configuration.
Even Ferrari didn't use it until the 90's with the 348 and Mondial t with the same running gear as the 348, but it wasn't exactly the same set up, I think the engines were inline, rather than transverse as in the Stratos.
I'm sure Geoff will correct me here if I'm wrong!
Is the yellow Fiat Broom yellow from Halfords? lol
Excellent Dave, keep at it.

Hi Shay, you say you have an Italeri kit of this. Is it finished or still in the box?

Re: Lancia Stratos
Finished, years ago.
The rear clamshell tilts to reveal not much more than a big air filter.
Lovely Alitalia decals are a bit tricky but look fantastic with a bit of Microsol.
My one is glued shut.

Re: Lancia Stratos
Jaysus Dave, even Geoff isn't fond of the Enthusiast kits and you're making your own coil overs and giving out about lack of detail...lol
Go on ya good thing.
