Re: Gilmore Shell
I cut the flange off the top of the metal cast base and epoxyied a spinner hub cap in it's place.
Then I found the perfect size tubing I need. I think some small drill bits came in it.
Pretty fragile, and It must be real glass because it was glowing red where I tried trimming it with the Dremel cut off wheel. But, I got them to size pretty good and capped off with some Chevvy dog dish hub caps.

Re: Gilmore Shell
The station is now glued to the foam base. The sidewalk is down and painted (badly) and now I'm attacking the drive area. The space between the pump island and the walkway is bricked, So, I'm in the process of scoring and embossing. Again. PIA !
In these photos, the pump island, canopy supports, and finished pumps are mocked in place.

Re: Gilmore Shell
Great work, Clay. I don't envy you laying all that brickwork on the ground.
BTW: Why is the building dated 1999?

Dunno, Mike I had to zoom in on a couple of fotos to see what was on those plaques, Finally made out that date. I can only assume that was when they reconstructed the station on the museum grounds.

Re: Gilmore Shell
Eons ago, Gaz, I had some plastic embossed brick facing sheets for model RRing. Don't have close access to hobby shops now, and besides, I don't like, or can afford, to pay money for stuff I can do myself. I have way more time than I have money. I got this !
Cheers,
