Window opening and doors are all trimmed out, and I was able to get to WalMart and picked up some 50 cent bottles of craft paint and had a go at starting the brick painting.

With glue setting, I thought I'd see how the planned light globes that line the underside of the over hang.
I use a lot of super glue that I get at the Dollar Store ($ 1.00 for a 2 pack)

Early on, I figured the tips of the caps might work on this project, so, I started saving them. I think it'll work.  Needless to say, the plastic is not all that great !

Joining the walls. While the glue is setting, I took a closer look at those cast metal gas pumps. Those puking things are really well made !
Starting to think I might be better off scratch building some rather than fight trying to rework these. It was a bear just getting this one disassembled only this far ! I think I'd rather  deal with plastic!

Great project. Are you converting it to a clock face pump?

Yes, this one I will. The other Spencer pump is square and I plan to scratch that one. The tall one in the center, maybe try to just mod the graphics.

I went thru two Dremel cutoff wheels to get this far ! As one of the young guys I used work with, coined, "it ain't easy being Geezy "

Building looks great with the roof on.

Is that car a 1/32 scale? Looks a bit small.

Thanks,
Yes, the car looks small in the photo ! Hmmmm, that's a heavily modified 40 Ford coupe. 'Twas a salvage yard body,1/24 or 1/25 scale.

Made the little gismo that the hose comes out of. Dang, I wish I could see better, cause it's a little crude!

Gilmore Shell - Page 2 Pump_i10

Whoever left this little smell thingie laying in the back of my van for the last couple of months, can kiss it goodbye. It's perfect for the end of the pump island !

Have the overhang lighting bases on and am stating to put the CA tip globes on. Plan is to install the station to the underside of the roof like this, and then turn it over to glue to the base. Everything after that will have to be done 'in place'.

I got an order of small Scallop shells from Amazon and will see if I can get something better than the lame Bondo one for the pump globes. Only problem is. that the natural shells are not quite symmetrically round. I'll have to tweak them a bit.
I'm also reworking that small glass thingie that the hose comes out of. Even with my bad eyesight that was too lame to let slide by !

1st pump finished, reworked, and with natural scallop shells for the globe

Gilmore Shell - Page 2 1_gas_11

Started on the 2nd one. This is more modern, and so, far it's scratch built with mat board and card stock.

Second pump now completed. Had to fix up the natural shell for rounder edge and a better 'flange'

Gilmore Shell - Page 2 2_pump11

The 3rd pump will be built on the cast metal base in the center. Should be interesting, for it has twin cylinders at the top beneath the shell globe !
