Tonight I sprayed a transmission & intake with Alclad white aluminum. It laid down fine. It was the clean up that chapped my rear.

I have used it before snd had no issue with using lacquer thinner to clean my airbrush.

Tonight the Alclad reacted to the lacquer and just gummed up. I read the bottle and it aid it contains MEK so now I guess i'm going to have to pick up a can of MEK

I have some valve covers that I plan on using Alclad polished aluminum on. It contains MEK as well.

?? Have only used al clad a couple of times had no problems cleaning the air brush. Really don't remember, but there's a good chance I cleaned with reducer. It's quite a bit notter than Lacquer thinner. Never had any luck with MEK as an adhesive, nor melting sprue for filler.

I have a quart of House Of Kolor reducer. I'll do test and see how it reacts.

I did a test, and the reducer did the trick.

Now I don't have to shell out $10 for a quart of MEK.

You may have a problem finding MEK. I haven't seen it here on the shelf here in utah for a couple of years. I use it almost exclusively as an adhesive and have the beer part of a gallon in my stash. For a while there was an MEK substitute on the shelf, but it didn't work worth a damn. Good luck.

I have always used Mr. Hobby, Mr. Tool Cleaner. It works a charm for any type of paint used in the air brush.
