The Whirlybirds Empty The Whirlybirds

Post by midnightprowler Sun 09 Apr 2017, 12:31 pm

How many of you remember the late 50's series The Whirlybirds? Here is the primary helicopter they used, N975B. I built her using the skids and ip from the MRC Bell 47D, and the balance is the Revell 47G kit. Decals by Speedway Decals.

Great build! I always liked the 'open girder' look of these helicopters.

I love those old helicopters with the bubble cockpit, very nice build.

Can we see the box art?

Whew! I am IMPESSED! That's one heck of a kit. Excellent work all around. Back in the '50s, we had one land weekdays a couple block from my home to pick up exclusive mail. It worked fine until one day the pilot, showing off for a grade school field trip, clipped a telephone or power line and snapped one of the wooden (and they were) rotor blades. End of helicopter service after that! No injuries at least.
