Fine looking upgrade, Chris. That's a great way to add hard to find models to your collection.

I remember them well, they were RHD Opels in Ireland too.
Did you get a Holden version?

Indeed we did. Local power train, with 4,6 or 8 cylinders. My wagon is based on the 3rd generation Opel.

Re: Senator Die Cast
They went well enough with a 180 hp straight six!
I believe you had the next generation Senators and then the Omegas, the shell looked identical to our versions, but was actually a few inches wider?

Yes, Shay. The VN Commodore of 1988 was widened over its Opel ancestor, ditto for the VT Commodore of 1998.dublin boy wrote:They went well enough with a 180 hp straight six!

The last one will come off the assembly line later this year. They're going out with a bang, you can option up to
north of 400 KW if your pockets are deep enough,

Re: Senator Die Cast
I was reading an old English car mag this morning and found this gem.
When the second gen 24v straight 6 Senator went out of production, the UK traffic cops were given 3.0 V6 Omegas, they preferred the old ones, so the old shape production line was temporarily opened back up just for the boys in blue, apparantly another 300 were produced.
Useless information really
