It's all fake news that you haven't put up any pics yet!

My first order of business is to sign an executive order, sending the U.S. military to China, to confiscate all of Revell's and Roun2's molds and bring them back to the U.S.

I spent at least 30 minutes sanding that retched mold blob off the back of my body tonight.

Looks brilliant Al, If the step is going to be black that would break up the silver a bit, you must be happy with it!

Looking good Al. I am noticing labels on the lids of the Tamiya jars. Is that normal labelling, what does it say?

I should have taken a picture before I sanded it off. I'm taking it your's wasn't that bad? Mine had to be close to 1mm thick.

Now as far as other mold lines, the two 3 window kits I have had several, but my 5 window didn't.

Thanks three.

Now, just for Shay, this is how I do a covered roof. (And how NOT to do it)

You will need some suitable medical tape. Wide enough to cover the whole area if you want it in one piece or narrower if you want to do it multi piece. You will also need a sheet of styrene.

Cut a piece of medical tape over size and stick it to the styrene sheet.

Now spray it your chosen colour. It will probably take several coats to get good coverage.

Now lay it over the edge to be covered and lightly burnish the edges:

Now burnish well as you would BMF and cut as per BMF and remove unwanted tape. This normally works well but in my haste I think I didn't allow enough time for the paint to dry properly, as you can see:

To remove tape glue residue in the past, I have had success with Methylated spirits but not this time. I cut through the clear gloss and the paint in double quick time.

So in the bath it goes.

Oh well, the sun will still rise in the East tomorrow.

Was that 2k or Promatic clear Al?

The Surgical tape is very tacky obviously.

I've only used it once, but it does seem to take a day or two to cure, it doesn't "smell" dry for want of a better explanation.

If you had sticky residue, you might have had some joy with Fairy Liquid, hot water and a toothbrush?
Just wondering.

I have never known this to happen before.

Primer, base silver, base clear red, clear coats....... when stripped the clear red has 'dyed' the styrene orange!!!

Thanks for your thoughts Shay. I'm going to let it cure for a few days this time, change the medical tape I used AND do a small test piece first this time.

Well, that's a strange one!

Could it be a reaction between the clear red and the Promatic I wonder?

Gives a whole new meaning to bleed through. LOL

You're painting it red again I guess?

Finally a couple of pics of a little bit of work.

This should keep the little green man at bay for now

The result of sanding off the retched mold blob. To get completely rid of it, I sad to sand the rear window trim off and make it smooth. I however like the smooth look.

The canvas top insert removed.  I ain't afraid of no ghost

A resin firewall & resin Raider wheels I will be using.
Both came from the same place. Forward_Resin from eBay.

I was going to suggest cutting the material before you paint the car and apply it later, but you're way too quick, Al.

Have another kit of that type?

Finally making progress again.

Engine completed and installed, wheels on and detailed, fabric on roof. (courtesy of a fresh roll of Micropore and patience)
