Re: 65 Mustang altered
Check how the frame fits the body. In that foto the rear wheelwell shows. When I built them I didn't glue the interior tub to the body. The foto may only show the body a bit too far forward on the frame, or a poor fit may be part of the kits. Back then AMT used the same frame for most kits, so body fit may be a problem. 'Stang body design lends itself to multi color painting. Color choice is yours. Good luck!

Re: 65 Mustang altered
The body chassis and interior all slides around a bit, it's endemic in this old awb series I think H, just one chassis to fit different bodyshells.
I think if I glue the tub to the chassis and then put the body on it might work.

Cool subject Shay.
IMO, go with the box art colours.

I really like the red and orange Al, I even thought about Alan Mann red and gold, black Hertz rental car, shelby stripes etc.

Its a basic kit but it allows a lot of latitude for the builder. I'm looking forward to following the build no matter what your color choice is

I like your idea for the colour combo.
The '57 is coming along. I may have an update on the paint tomorrow night

Haven't seen an AWB where the kit manufacturer has the rear well already altered for you. But then, I'm not a fan of AWB dragsters.
Will be an interesting build.

Re: 65 Mustang altered
I was sure I had a can of red paint, but no joy.
Down to the Motor Factors tomorrow, the Holts rattle cans are cheaper than Halfords.
The front tyres are as as per the original kit, actually two piece white styrene. I remember the black two piece vinyl tyres from my youth, but not actual plastic ones. I assume when I glue and sand them that satin black will work ok?

Dirty sandpaper helps put some debris onto vinyl tires. Lordy, how I remember those white 2-piece plastic tires. Best o' luck to you!

Cool little kit, looking forward to seeing it come together! Though there is a preference for 'fancier' paint jobs in situations like this the simple stripe of the second version is also cool, a tough call.

Re: 65 Mustang altered
The propellant has leaked out of an unopened rattle can of Halfords Metallic Orange, had this happen before, but it 's not in my local store and never has been, so it's a 15 mile round trip to bring it back with no receipt.
Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Re: 65 Mustang altered
The gold looks good, Shay. I hated the two-piece tires. They were always slightly misaligned and sanding to mate them resulted in tread disappearing on one half.

Re: 65 Mustang altered
Looking better and better. Gold looks almost like what we used to call "antique gold." White makes for a nice contrast. Good luck!

Re: 65 Mustang altered
Thanks guys, the gold does look like an older kind of colour from back in the 60's.
