Interesting subject Paul. You putting it on a base?

Based on the Tiger I chassis, the Sturmtiger carried a massive 38cm mortar and weighed in at over 60 tons!!

Construction complete and ready for primer. The aerial is a piece of 34 guage beading wire.

Trumpeter have the base colour as 'middle stone' but from mid February 1943 all German vehicles were
ordered to leave the factory in Dunkelgelb (Dark Yellow) so my base coat is Tamiya XF60 Dark Yellow
which looks to be a reasonable match.

On to the base coat I drew some outlines in pencil for guidance:

Then with my new airbrush I free handed them in with Tamiya XF13 J.A Green:

Followed by Tamiya XF 64 Red-Brown:

It's not perfect by any means, but I'm happy enough with it for my first tri-colour camo.

AK Interactive track wash applied to the tracks and AK Rust streaks applied to the armour.

The tracks will get some more done to them and the Rust Streak wash will be blended when thoroughly dry.

Doggone! Y'all are really movin' fast! Mine will probably take a bit more time. Especially considering the individual track links. Also there are many options and unused parts, AND the instructions are completely different than anything I have previously worked with.

The instructions should read; Watch out for that first step, it's a doozie! I count around 70 parts for step 1.

Nice to have you joining in Cole. Could do with one or two more guys!!!

Blended in the AK Rust Streaks wash. Next up will be more tracks/wheel work and a little rusting or chipping.

had a few problems getting the schurzen rails on....left hand one is particulary skewed........not sure if its something ive done or if its slightly warped.........so i think this might be getting some battle damage to the schurzen themselves

next step is primer then i can think about getting some paint on

The Dark Side calls again!  I'm in!  I'll post what I want to build tomorrow. I think it will probably be the Tamiya Elefant.

Okay this is the one I'll be building.

It will get off to a rather slow start though. In spite of the box art showing Zimmerit there is none in the contents. I have ordered aftermarket Zimmerit from Amazon, but it will be approximately the first part of October before it gets here from Japan. In the meantime I will get as far along as I can.

I really appreciate the details that Dragon put into this kit; the weld seams, road wheels, and drivers' hatch to name a few.

I started off with two assembly lines.  One for the road wheels and the other for the track links.  The tracks have 117 links per side and each link is two parts !

The Sturmtiger is finished but I'm going to place it on this base, so there is still work to do:
