No hurry. This is a great, active site. Sometimes time away can recharge the building battery.

That is the truth! We just visited my Aunt who has an entire basement dedicated to her 3 hobbies, quilting, beading and ceramics. She has a different work station for each of them. She is 82 years old and the quality of of work was mind boggling. I couldn't wait to get home and get back to work.
After seeing my aunts work area, my wife suggested we move my work room to the larger of our spare bedrooms, so we spent yesterday swapping rooms. I still have some sorting to do, but can't wait to get back to the bench.

Okay guys, vacation over, made some changes after vacation. i moved my work room to a larger bedroom in the house so that took a few days to sort out.
Now I am back on this beast. I had a really hard time getting the stance where I wanted it. I settles for what looks to me like it would be almost the stock stance. For whatever reason this kit held the stance where the body would be higher off the wheels than it should. i dropped it a scale six inches and this is where it ended up. I am happy-ish with it where it is. Now that the hard work is done I will get on with the fun stuff, finishing up the interior, and the bright work, which for this build was all stripped, painted, and weatherd.
On to the pics!

That's some nice weathering. I'm guessing you would have liked it to sink a little to show wear on the suspension and shocks.

Yes, I would have but the way the kit is designed. I would have had to Z the chassis and do some serious mods to the bed and body. I opted not to do that on this one. I would like to see a build up of this in stock form, the stance must be very unrealistic.

Max: The weathering looks great. Very, very realistic rusting. Were it me though, I'd dirty up the whitewalls. They look pretty bright.

Whitewalls and fancy mag wheels stand apart from the rest. Maybe a light dusting of dust/dirt would fit the bill. Rusted in the right places and having the top parts, hood, roof, bed side top edges with less body color is the right way to go. Of course, it varies by where the vehicle lives. Good luck on the interior.

This is looking great Max, nice weathering.

I have to agree with John and Harron on the fat walls though.

This looks really cool. I like the fat white walls. Although I am not sure they are the right fit. I am invisioning them with this truck and a much lower stance. Just my very humble opinion. Great looking build none the less.

After considering all the comments about the stance, I am re evaluating if i want to go to the lengths necessary to drop it more than I have. This kits chassis and suspension setup doesn't allow for an easy drop. I will ponder this for a day or two to see if I can come up with something less invasive than what I think it will take to get down in the weeds.

I came up with a way to drop this thing in the weeds, but I will have to cheat to do it. I got the wheels back off tonight, more updates later.

Okay, A small update for you guys but was quite a bit of work to get this one as low as it will go, Any lower and the A frames will drag the ground. I cheated on the front spindles a bit but they will never be seen so here ya go. I also dirtied up the white walls a bit with a thinner/flat black wash. They are dirtier than they appear in the pic.

You really did get it low! I can tell the whitewalls are less "brilliant white." She's coming along nicely and good experience for you in future builds. Thanx for the update.

Stunning work. The end result is spot on. I too had a problem getting the front low enough on mine.

Thanks guys, Yeah this kits suspension is one of the most difficult to work with when it came to lowering it that I have ever dealt with. now it's on
to the interior, and engine.
