Nice work everyone. Made some progress on the '58 Edsel Gasser, by cutting off the rear shackle plates, re-attaching them to the under side of the springs for lift, turning the front spindles upside down and re-drilling, then inserting new brass pins to raise the front suspension. Also found some awesome resin cast American Mag and Craigar rims. Shot these with Alclad II primer in preparation for an aluminum and magnesium finishing. Also plan to use AMT Custom Competitions Goodyear " Blue Streak" slicks for the rears and haven't picked out the front tires yet.

Yeah mate straight over their own gloss black.. It's bang on the 2k stuff, only bad point is that the lid on the jar keeps glueing shut of the hardner, found a way to get it off though, my pipe grips and some brute force does the trick

Ash: You mentioned you can't find the Peugeot 405 for a decent price. I found mine in an old tobacco shop in my town. The owner gave me a discount because of the box condition. He only charged me 1000 yen. It's nice to get a great deal now and again. So I've gone ahead and ordered the Shunko decals.
In the meantime, some progress on the engine, power train, and body.

That is a good price Cole, it's next to nothing in gbp even with dodgy decals, good idea getting the new set, just wish they would start selling the escort cosworth pilot ones again, engine looks sweet too

Bruce..... those wheels are looking great and will look spot on when Alclad'd.

Cole.... the engine assembly looks bril. Are you going to add HT leads to the plugs? It's easy on this one as the simply go behind the engine!!!!!

Paul..... the engine is looking good. I have this one in the stash and I'm thinking that the body looks good enough to simply polish!

The F-1 Ferrari 126-c2 was not especially successful...or beautiful.  That said, so rare it makes building one essential as part of Ferrari and F-1 history.  I liked the complicated engine and fell under the spell.  Bought a 1/24 (?) one, maybe a Protar, but never got to building it.  Congrats on yours!

This GB is looking promising and getting very interesting. Great start on all the WIP guys.

I have a question re the main rule.

Starts Jan 1st, 2016.

Build any race car from any real racing venue. Remember, open ended on the finish date, just need to have it started by the end of Feb.

Would a real race car from a real venue with different livery from another real race car bend the rules too much?

I am thinking of this combo. The actual Tamiya Mazda kit is just too valuable to purchase and build. Since most of my builds(as limited as they have been) are visual and seldom ever follow fact. I came up with this solution.

The  Jag body lines are a real close match to the Mazda787b.

After applying a guide coat, wet sanded with 1800 and 3400 the body to see how the primer coat will look.

It's Sam's decision Curt but I don't see why not.

Looking forward to that one Curt

Bruce that is coming along nicely.

I am getting back into this one with a stalled duel build I have had going for a long time.
I am building John Milner's rail dragster from More American Graffiti.
A lot of people have built a model of that car.
I am also going to build a model of the infamous "Factory Backed" Hunt Bros car.
I didn't use the MPC kit for Milners car. They are too expensive and the actual kit has the wrong engine.
I am using the HemiSphere car for the base for Milners car and the Tommy Ivo kit for the bases for the Hunt Bros car. I found a picture of the decals for Milners car and made copies on my printer.

I don't have a lot of start up pictures and I really hadn't gotten very far on either build so the pictures are from restarting the build this past Saturday.

I stripped the chrome on some of the parts, took some big block Moroso valve covers and filed them down to resemble small block valve covers.

Sprayed some Alclad chrome and started some assembly
