Re: Star Trek Voyager
What a difference the PE makes! Also see why they primer the interior to stop the light from coming through the body.

Re: Star Trek Voyager
Well i've not been on the forum as much as per normal for a month or two and now i'm having a good look around again i come across this ..... and it's still not finished !!
come on scruffbag ... get a grip, stop faffing with all these little bits and get it done !! :)
on a serious note mate .... its really coming on and looking more and more impressive as you progress ... it'll be another museum quality build again no doubt ... more than likely able to be used in a production of the show if i'm honest.
keep the updates coming mate, i'm enjoying watching this come together.

Re: Star Trek Voyager
The PE is good for this kit Dogfish, Ill be lilghtblocking all the gaps later and painting the inside white to reflect the light around.
Cheers Colin, Im going as fast as I can but I keep seeing extra bits to put on LOL. Its nice to have you looking in my friend.

Re: Star Trek Voyager
Have been busy with photo etch on the lower saucer section. The windows are now in (the right place) on the upper bridge deck. Light blocked the photo etch windows.
There is a noticeable gap between the saucer and the small deflector which will bleed ALOT of light so I am going to put the bulbs in tubes butted up to the deflector to eliminate this. I only have clear tube so had to paint it.

Re: Star Trek Voyager
Having fitted the deflector, the tubing used to light block the LEDs can clearly be seen. This is not acceptable as I am trying to keep the build as close to the studio model as I can. In addition to this the photo etch detailing for the front deflector is FAR too thick, I will either make this detail from very thin plasticard or use the kit decal, which is excellent. Given all that I have removed everything and cleaned up the front to take it back to square one. I have sent for some micro SMD lights which I hope I will be able to light block invisibly.
On the plus side I have placed the missing rib detail on the upper saucer section, so its not all been backward steps LOL.

Re: Star Trek Voyager
Spot filling and sanding.
Changed the detail on the Aft Radiator.
Ghost grey primer coat done and final topcoat colour mixed. The official colour is Deckhouse blue, however this is FAR too blue and the studio model itself is more light grey with a very slight blue grey hue. I hope I have mixed enough because I am happy with the colour and will NEVER match it again LOL.

Matching colours is next to impossible, I too hope you have mixed enough.

Re: Star Trek Voyager
Very cool! I always felt space ships should have better detail and weathering/damage from debris and space material. Your careful p.e. additions help immensely. Keep on going, this one will be worth it!

Re: Star Trek Voyager
Slow Voyager progress. Top coat on saucer section, and a little shading/highlighting and colour blocking on the lower section.
Wasn't happy with a window so took it back down to redo.
I have tried a test fit of the two sections and Im not saying its a poor fit but my friend Tim Peake said he could see a couple of gaps and he's on the international space station LOL.
