Hubley Phaeton
Have been lookin at this ever since I spied it in my care package.
Now is a good time to give it a better look.
A little out of my ball park, being cast metal. Looks like there is some stuff missing. Not promising to carry thru on this.
First hitch is trying to figure out this front end. Tie rod doesn't jive with the slot on the frame. No help from a quick Google search. Might have to GEEZERMAN it ( cobble).
See no method to attach the axle assy. to the frame other than super glue it ??
This may not end up being very cool !!

Good One Clay, 3 minute Epoxy also works well on these old metal kids, or the 5 minutes stuff. Cheap at Walmart.

I have a few of these Clay but they're in pretty bad shape. Let me know what you think your missing and I will see if I have it.

Hubleys were a horror. If you think removing flash and cleaning up plastic parts is a bother, it's worse with metal. Add a 2 piece body held together with screws, and, well you get the point. It's really hard to make major changes with the metal as well and the plastic parts, from engine to wheels, were clumsy looking. I did the Packard phaeton and lost interest after completing all but body and interior.

Thanks for the offer. I don't think this is going to be all that dear to my heart even though it's the era I like to model in. My usual response to pieces that I need would be to substitute and rework something similar or scratch build it.
Like I said earlier, this may be a rare case of abandonment.

Have the wheels repainted and scratched a distributor/rotor.

Re: Hubley Phaeton
Workin on the body seams. The block had a big opening in front. I closed it up and put a crossover tube in front of it. Also a big hole in the side of the block below the carburetor. Don't know what Hubley had in mind for there. I just stuck something over it ( oil filter ? )

Chassis up on wheels.
Found the overlooked Hubley taillights, but seen's as how I had already made one, I'll be going with that.
Needed something for the Hubley headlights, so, I worked down a couple of 40 Ford hubcaps for some chrome buckets and using a standard paper hole punch on some acetate. Just right size for a pair of lens'

Starting to shape up indeed Clay, the wheels will look really cool against the body colour.
Another Clay classic on the way !

Re: Hubley Phaeton
Clay, even with all their flaws the Hubley kits are near and dear to me. My Dad would buy them for me when I was a kid and we would sit and build them together. I still have them all and someday will start restoring them. I will need to pick up some parts kits though, to finish them up I'm sure.
I like what your doing with yours !

I have approached the point where I'm comfortable to set the engine permanently in the frame.
