I saw a couple of vintage Harley's in the village to-day. Lovely sound to them

Can just hear this one too, nice one Paul.

I know I haven't finished my first motorcycle, but I decided to start another.  This is a recent re-issue by Tamiya.

I got the main frame pieces glued together so I could paint the frame.  Also the engine is together in preparation of paint

hit a snag

put the two tank halfs on the frame just like the pic in the instructions and dry fitted the seat.....and theres about 5mm of the gap on show!!!..............yet the pic on the box dosnt show a gap....very strange, yet the tank cant go together in any other way

but i have a bold and cunning plan to hide the gap

ive cut a strip of plasticard to fit the gap and sprayed it red. the deal sheet is probably 75% knackered. i was only going to be using the small decals as the large stripes are too far gone, so i shall try cutting up a strip of the stripe thats supposed to go on the front fender and put that over my fillet to sort of hide/blend it in

so heres how my fix came out, seat is just dry fitted to see how it came out

im at the decal stage.....all the large decals are tatered and the small ones are taking some persuasion to soften off, im having to use very hot water.....i dread to think how old this kit is, must be 25+ years

OK to help to kick start my mojo back into shape i've been out and bought a couple of bike kits.
The first is a Katana that i'll be messing around with (as usual i cant leave anything alone) and turning it into a trike.

More than likely be a hard tail consisting of struts and plates.

The box and sprues

Found some wheels and tyres that will do for the back (they're from an old meccano set and i really like the style)
Have given the wheels a coat of the final colour (a nice metallic purple that i'll be using up from a previous build)

Started the frame, cut away the bits not needed and started adding pipework to accommodate the rear axle and wheels.
i'm using the spare lengths from the sprue to get the same plastic to go together.

Got rid of the chrome and have the brightwork as purple now
(top left) have cut the seat down to a single and finished the back off with a bit of styrene sheet

engine mostly together and just needs the peripherals adding, can't do anything with it until the frames finished and painted, tank and fairing together and just need a sand before paint as the fit is very good.

some wheels of a 1/35th tank, an old headlight and some styrene tube = rear differential

Hmmm i thought this build had more people interested?

Anyhow .....

The rear diff and brake assembly seems to work

The front end looks the part now the pipework is all installed

And this is where it stands at the moment

just little things to add like footrests / gear/brake levers and some detailing & touching up to do to the paintwork.

I like it a lot. The single rear disc break is way cool.
