GAZ-AAA Build
Al and I have a double build going. Unfortunately my MiniArt kit has not arrived from the Ukraine as yet. This type of kit is a first for me. Consequently I decided to do a practice build with a Zvezda kit I had in my stash. I did not do a WIP as there will be a detailed WIP as we do the double build.
I finished the Zvezda kit today and thought I would post a finished works notice. Here it is.
Comments, suggestions, criticism and friendly ridicule welcome.

See...... I told you, you would enjoy the darkside.
Looks good John and would go well in a dio.

Great job, John. Very nice work all around. Is the tarp a painted and weathered plastic piece or made of fabric?

Looks truly great. Unusual in its rear bed. There's a good bit of overhang beyond the rear axle. Pretty short wheelbase (front to rear axle centers) too. Tandem rear axles would allow for plenty of weight. Very nice work. I remember seeing on a friend's cable tv, a show that highlighted among the most important weapons of WWII was the Dodge truck that looked fairly similar. We sent dozens to the Soviets and they used them very efficiently for everything from troops to equipment and towing cannons. Thanx for a fine job!

Nice work John. I haven't seen the scale so I guess it is 1/72.

Paul: No ships or planes for now. I do think this is the start of a diorama though. Have to see how things turn out.

Mike: The tarp is a blue shop towel (paper) soaked in a solution of white glue and water then formed on the plastic. After the shell has dried it is cut to shape and painted and weathered.

Hey Coyote: The kit is a 1/35 Russian kit. Pretty good quality, but some issues with it not having locator pins in many places where it should. Overall a nice kit though.. Got to thank Al for it; he brought it over to me from England last summer.

That looks great, a diorama is definitely needed for that.
Kitchen roll, toilet paper etc and pva glue is a godsend for stuff like this, I use it all the time.
