Beautiful job... That little bit of yellow on the wheels really gives it that "something special" for me.

Nice one John, the lemon on the wheels really compliments the white body paint.

I returned to modelling about thirteen years ago and have completed well in excess of 150 models in that time finding some joy even in the crappiest kits.

However, this one was a totaly joyless buiild for me from start to finish, a lot of which has to do with any real enthusiasim for the subject plus. I should have stuck out for the sedan, which I did want to build. Oh well!!

Three paint jobs didn't help either. Particularly the last one. Not thinking, I mixed the clear coat in a medicine cup that had been used for the previous clear coat but not cleaned, just left to dry.

Well, the new clearcoat, 'disolved' some of the previous stuff and spat all over ther truck.

With my lack of enthusiasim for it, I just went ahead and finished it PDQ.  Lesson learned.

I nearly didn't post the finished model but I believe in posting failures as well as success's. LOL

Al: You did some great work on this one in spite of the major problems you had with the kit. Tough luck with the clear coat; otherwise that would be one good looking model. Better luck next time,

It doesn't look bad for a "failure" Al.

It's a kit that seems to be "one step forward, two steps back" as i'm finding it.....

Have you left the door hinges off ?????

Two winners for sure. That White Coupe is a beauty John. Nice work.

Al your truck looks good from here. I know you struggled with it some but the finished product is nice.

John: Great looking build. White is a color rarely seen in models of that classic era. It really makes the car stand out.

Al: What can I say? We've all had that happen to us over the years. This kit does present it's challenges. On the bright side, it has a great shine. It'll look good on the shelf - just not in the forefront.

Great work both. I love the sheen and the period look on yours John. Just perfect. Sorry about the lack of joy Al. Some of those late sixties kits by Revell were overly complex and just didn't go together well. On a positive note it's easy to get out of the truck, you just shove the door off! Really love the red black combo.

Thanks for all your kind comments guys.

I didn't get much joy out of it 'cos I'm really not that keen on the subject. Had I been keen on the subject, much more effort would have been put in.

Back of shelf at floor level Mike!!! LOL

Well i've enjoyed this, raising instead of lowering.

Added a few extras like aerial, mud flaps, tool box, bull bar, built suspension from scratch.....
changed the hinges to "quick release pins".....
went for twin bucket type seats instead of the bench norm ....

Colin.... that's a great looking truck. I love the jacked up look, the nobblies, the belts..... hell I like it all.

One suggestion.... maybe a 'business' decal for each door??

Thanks for the kind words Ash. The build was OK, it was just the third crappy paint job that ticked me off!!! LOL

Was thinking of a decal, more along the lines of a custom type though, not sure if I have any business type.

There's a nice native American decal I can cut down to fit from the leftovers of the spad build.... I might just add that and see what it looks like.

Thanks for the comments chaps

Well, the truck is finished.  It came out looking as I intended - a 50's customization of a '40 Ford.  The cab was the most tedious assembly, but it went together OK.

I removed the louvers, levelled the stance, wired the engine, swapped for taller '39 Lincoln wheels, tires and spare, added a 1/32 scale rear bumper, tailgate chains and a visor from a '48 Chevy.

A great subject for the group build. I really enjoyed seeing the different ways a single kit was done.

Mike

That's a great looking truck Mike. You did a good job. Love the spare wheel.

Great build Mike. How in the world did you get the lettering so prefect on the tailgate? I'm more of a sixties style hot rod/custom guy, but you captured that 50s look perfectly.

Thanks, everyone.

Dave, the lettering was from the included decals.

John, that is one SWEET coupe, you really nailed the look !

Al, I dont know what you are talking about, yours looks better than the box art !

Colin, yours is WAY outside the box, and I really like the look of it lifted. It reminds me so much of my cousins 1:1 '46 Studebaker 4x4 he built.

Mike, I am a sucker for a red and black old school pickup. You could park yours next to my '41 Chev PU and they would look like twins !

Hats off to everybody..and in less than a month. WOW !!
