At last, the GMC Astro
Another long term inmate of the bench is free! My take on AMT's GMC Astro.
I added some brake lines, battery cables & the air hoses & gear shift linkage to it. I like a clean looking truck, so I smoothed the panel lines & rivets on the cab, and didn't use any of the 'dress up" accesories in the kit, such as horns, roof lights, etc.
Shelf space keeps me from building a trailer for it.
I'll research some decals for it later, but I'm declaring it "done"

Chris, nice looking truck! You got the engine color just right for the old two stroke, naturally-aspirated Detroit Diesel engine. And that shift linkage looks good too. Great clean workmanship.
It always cracks me up to see the tiny grilles on these old trucks, as compared to the monster ones on today's trucks!!

I love the look of the old cabovers and this one looks great Chris. Nice job.

So nice! Way back when they were new, I bought one of those kits with hopes of making one into a trailer yard mule for moving them around. Body/chassis shorter and more handrails around it made it different. From that model mag I learned about the truck terminology like "glad hands." Your beautiful Astro brings back memories, thanks!

Thanks guys! Pete, the colour took me a few hours on google, and a couple of blends to get it right.
I need to add the gear lever too. It fell off at some stage.

Re: At last, the GMC Astro
Chris, your blend is right on. The older two stroke Detroit's were a green color like you made.
The newer four stroke Series 60's were more blue than green, and now the Detroit's DD13/15/16 family have a silver block.
