That's what G T O stands for  64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3331969777

I'm planning on building this stock so I stuck it here.

The new Polar Lights 64 GTO snap kit which is well detailed and a lot of parts that come in 3 colors so here is the run down on the kit

Box art

White parts, body and int.

Blue engine parts and they have parts for either a 3/2 set up or dual 4's

Black parts, Frame and chassis

Chrome parts

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0974_zps9261762f

and the all important destruction sheet and decals

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0975_zps24b696c2

I'm impressed with the detail and how clean the parts are and will find out about any fit issues and let you all know about them. Might go get a couple more just for the heck of it. Will be using this for a filler for when I have some thing drying or some thing like that 64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3887228019

Looks like a good kit. Way better than the snap kits the grand kids have built.

My problem with the kit is that some of the parts must have been jiggled when molded as they look kinda fuzzy... 64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3887228019 Seriously it looks like a great kit. Interested to see it come together.

Well I started the engine and found some fit problems, the pins for the block half's are fine but after that the oil pan and front cover pins are off so I just removed them and glued them on and I glued the block half's together also

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0976_zpsfd594eab

the heads are a different story, they have 2 tabs coming down from them but for them to fit right I took the rear tab off and cut the front one in half ( in picture marked in red ) and on the block there is a tab sticking up for the bottom of the head to go well it's down too low so I removed it also ( in picture marked in red )

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0977_zpsa0229212

the exhaust manifolds are molded with the heads and after I get the other head put on I'll see how the intake fits.

So far I would say this is NOT a newbie first kit by any means, it has good detail on the parts but may be a 3rd or 4th kit.
Will update when I get more done and thanks for looking 64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3887228019

Making good progress. I like it when a builder shows the short comings in a kit and how they over came them.

Seems like flipping over the tail shaft is a lot of work that no one would notice. The kinda thing I would spend a day or two on. 64 Grand Turismo Omologata 1792231099

I meant a day or two to swap the tail piece. Not build the whole kit. Ask around, I never finish anything.

I would not call this kit a snappie cause it is NOT.

Cut off the tail shaft and turned it around so it looks better

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0982_zps5fd4bc57

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0983_zps052d6063

put on the other head after the mods and put the intake on which with a very light sanding on the sides went in place with just a little push. Dug out the frame and this is what it looked like

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0978_zps455e7db2

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0980_zpsc3056ecb

after spending some time on the clean up here is what it looks like now

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0981_zps4296a27d

Had to see what she looked like so did a mock up on the chassis and put the wheels together, there is two sets of rims you can use so I made 2 of each set to see which one I liked better for the stock version

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0984_zps74c86542

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0985_zpse46705b7

the second set you can't see that good so here is a close up

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0986_zps924e10b8

I'm leaning towards the second set right now, the wire wheels with the spinners might look better and are factory looking which they did have. What do you guys think ??

Be giving the run down on the chassis on the next up date 64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3887228019

Spoke wheel is what I'd pick. Might look entirely different if you did a black wash to them. Could be a game changer.

Either wire or spoke wheels would look more real with a wash of some dark paint and, if possible, lug nuts in "steel" color.  Snap kits I had no respect for, then I saw what some folks could do with them.  Also, some rare cars were/are made only in "snap" form.
For a good write up on the original Ferrari 250 GTO, there's a nice wiki. funny that in the 2 years it was made, the output was a mere 39 cars. The values at auction over the years are eye-popping too. Here's the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_250_GTO. Good luck with the Pontiac, which sold a few more than 39 that year!

Thanks guy's for the comments and input  64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3331969777

Got some done on the frame and chassis, every hole that the frame goes into needed to be opened up so in would fit with a # 11 blade and when you get that done there is a fit issue with the front wheel well, a gap at the bottom

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0994_zpsf9c024d7

it took a little while to find out why, their is a ridge on the chassis part that is holding it up ( marked in red in the picture )

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0995_zpsa0ae8708

The interior  tub has the front wheel wells on in and I was fitting them together when I found this. Removed the ridge until even with the chassis and took a little off of the tunnel on the inside and this is what you have

64 Grand Turismo Omologata PICT0996_zps5a68c293

Just a tiny gap at the front which will go away when you GLUE them together.  got those parts put together with white glue and are drying now and have the rear end in place so I can put the wheels back on and the body to check the stance before I go any further. The only thing I can about this kit is who ever called it a snap kit was on some thing, has more issues than the glue kits  64 Grand Turismo Omologata 4233681232

Will up date again in a little while when I get more done or figured out on a fit issue and thanks for looking  64 Grand Turismo Omologata 3887228019
