The engine looks so cool. I like different and this one is just that. Not in a bad way either.

Andy, Dave is right. I've tried a spot touch-up on an airbrushed piece in the past and it didn't even match. If you brush Alclad on, you'll get stroke marks that are almost impossible to overcome. I've had better reults trying to brush paint MM Metallizer, but again not over large areas.

Thank you Dave and Mike, it was just a passing thought after seeing your radiator shell, with it being so small thought you might have used a normal brush...

Thank you again...

Andy...

No exhaust just yet, but did get a hand lever and steering linkage on.

Also got the spare mounted after grinding off the taillights for clearance.  Will add scratchbuilt lights to the styrene rod across the top of the gas tank.

The tires look Gray and not black. Is that a camera trick or did I miss something. Love this build.

I think it's looking great Mike but do my eyes deceive me, or are the front left and rear right tyres bald???

Buck, I didn't like how they looked when I painted the whole wheel gloss black and then did the tires in matt finish. Looked like a big blob of blackness. Normally I would have used the Vallejo Black-Grey for just the tread area.

Al, it's probably a combination of Pyro's molding and me filing a bit to eliminate any noticeable ridges (two piece tires). Hopefully, the front fenders will hide that a bit.

Thanks guys.

I've decided on an exhaust system - finally.

I tried cutting and gluing an old manifold to my pipes, but it didn't quite give me what I wanted.

1930 Bentley Silver Aero - Page 2 Bentle30

1930 Bentley Silver Aero - Page 2 Bentle31

Then I tried gluing pieces of home copper wiring to the pipes, but I couldn't get the bends even enough.

1930 Bentley Silver Aero - Page 2 Bentle32

So I decided to use a smaller styrene rod all installed straight and then bent as uniformly as I could.  I also used a smaller header piece to be attached to the long pipes later.

1930 Bentley Silver Aero - Page 2 Bentle33

1930 Bentley Silver Aero - Page 2 Bentle34

I drilled holes in a popsicle stick to insert the pipes, heat all 4 at once and try to bend uniformly.

1930 Bentley Silver Aero - Page 2 Bentle35

And amazingly, I ended up with two sets of pipes that looked quite similar.  Now to decide on the final paint color.

The chassis now has the radiator installed.  I was holding off to make the hood foldable, but the material is too thin to safely drill into from the edge.

Also added the taillights made from spare red parts.

That'll be it for a time while the wife and I spend a few days in Las Vegas.

Thanks for looking,

Mike

Good idea on bending the header pipes altogether. Looking good.

Got back to this after a little vacation.  Installed the exhaust system, some radiator hoses, and the motor intake petcocks.  They appear straight, and even match side to side.  The motor half was weathered more than the long pipes - I thought it would show weear from the bulk of the heat and differentiate it as a cast metal versus steel piping.  I'm still thinking that one over.

Mike: This is looking great. You did an excellent job on the exhaust.

I'm a bit late, but in the future you might consider using solder to fabricate exhaust systems. It can be found in various diameters, forms and cuts easily, glues well with CA or epoxy and looks like metal because it is metal. It's the first thing I reach for when fabricating exhausts.

Getting close to the finish line, here.  Added the dashboard and steering wheel.  Installed the front fenders, but had to cut off the rear support rods.  Made up an insert to fill the space left by the missing blower.  Headlights and roadlights are painted with Alclad Chrome.

The Bentley is finished!  The final touches were the shifter, step plates, and windscreens.  I used the small individual windscreens and left the full length one off.  It had a terrible injection mark and Pyro made it as a glass windscreen instead of the screened piece I've seen in online pics.

This was great fun with a mediocre kit and it may not be my last Aero car.  I've got a beautiful 15 liter Mercedes DIII waiting for a home.

Thanks for watching and all your comments.

great little build. It seems that some of that lovely green is still peeking out, or is it just the camera playing tricks?

Don't see how as everything was primed first before painting. It may be reflections from overhead lighting.
