Die cast '58 Chev Pickup
Finished. Motormax diecast. A bit bigger than 1-24th I feel. It got stripped, repainted, ( pretty sure Burnt Orange was not a factory colour in 1958!)
Picked out what I could under the bonnet & on the underside with paint.
Some BMF & added quarter vent windows.
"Wood" box is scratch build from styrene sheet. One more off the bench & into the display cabinets.
For a pickup of the era its well optioned. Heater, V8, 4speed & the custom trim- chrome bumpers, grille hubcaps & headlight trim.
And whitewalls.
I did think of stripping the chrome & painting them white to make a povo pack version, but:
1) I'm lazy
2) I like chrome on cars- scale & 1:1
Cheers,
Chris

Looks great !
Never done this, but looks like stripping die casts is the way to go. The paint on them always looks heavy to me.
Adding the crate sells it!
Nice job !

Thanks gents. Clay, the paint laughed at stripper. Right, thinks I, I'll settle this, in the bead blaster at work. As if. The blaster took the gloss off, & I cut my losses & primered over it.
I'm happy enough with it. Very slight orange peel. Not enough to bug me.

Looks really good, I like that you repainted it and the box is a nice touch of realism.
