1980 Mustang
Some work on my 80 Mustang. I'm planing to build a mustang from every era.
This model was molded in red so I painted it silver. Gave it a good sanding and painted it silver again. Then a few airbrushed coats of white primer. I thought I had pic in white primer but that's not that interesting anyway LOL

Re: 1980 Mustang
then I painted is all yellow (Tamiya decanted and airbrushed). Followed by taping off the midline just above the side trim, and shooting Testors black lacquer.
Once that was done I taped off the windshield frame and hit it with some clear to seal in the tape. Then decanted Tamiya TS-6 matte black for the trim. I did this separately for each window. It takes forever to do it this way (versus all at once) but I prefer to focus on one area at a time.

Re: 1980 Mustang
Since I wasn't happy with the yellow cover in the engine bay, I decided to make is matte black. Its not technically correct for this year Mustang but I'll pretend it is.
I also used some really thin vinyl tape for the red mid stripe. I've had success painting these in the past but this is WAY easier :)

Re: 1980 Mustang
Quality mask & paint job. Jeff, is the vinyl a thinner version of pinstriping tape?

Jeff: you may be new to this group, but you're obviously not new to the hobby. Excellent masking and painting.

Not a fan of this Mustang but you are doing it proud Jeff. Nice trim work.

It's something I bought at the hobby ship and I think its made for RC cars. It comes in a roll with different size stripes. This is the smallest one.
Thanks for the comments guys.
