Please excuse the poor quality, its a screen grap from Youtube. 1970s British cop show called "The Sweeney"
Best cop show ever IMHO. Gritty, they don't always get their man, **** happens.
Anyway the ford is used to spring a crim from the back of Police van. Smash the windows, wrap the chain around the doors & drive off.
Too easy!

Looks like a 58 Ford Ranchero with a different bed or a truck with the 58 Ford front end sheet metal on it Cool looking though, didn't know they had the 58 Ford across the pond

Gentleman's tow truck for a Mini or Morris. We never got the series here in Midwest, but I remember reading (and I just checked) it starred the late, great (and grumpy) John Thaw. His Inspector Morse, years later was a first rate gem. Thanx for an unusual vehicle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, no good can come from a relationship between a pickup and a coupe. No wonder it went wrong, and it looks like it didn't take care of itself well either.

I have to agree, BUT, you have to admit some of them look really, really cool.

Its funny, the Ute had, and still has HUGE success in Oz. The success went on for decades BEFORE the Ranchero (1957) and ElCamino (1959) were ever released in the States. The Ranchero got too big and ugly in the late 70's, but the ElCamino was still a great looking vehicle when they pulled the plug on it. I love most of the early Ranchero's and ElCamino's. I have owned both a 57 and a 60 Ranchero and my #1 "if I could own just one car/truck" would be a 1959 ElCamino.
LONG LIVE THE UTE !!!!

I agree that vehicles made by companies as part-car, part-pickup work. I was just having fun. That said, compromises mean they may not be as comfortable or roomy as cars and not as "heavy duty" as pickups. Both Ranchero and El Camino have a place in many hearts. Interesting that both companies chose Spanish names for the vehicles.
