PostSubject: Panzer II. 'Luchs'. (Retreat from Leningrad')   Tue 12 Nov 2013, 10:54 pm

I had an absolute blast with this one, enjoying every step of the way. It was so much fun it was almost obscene!! LOL

Apart from a couple of braile scale tanks this is my first completed tank and my first serious attempt at proper weathering.

The tank kit is Tasca's 'German Pz.Lpfw.Ausf.L "Luchs". Late Version. The base is Mini Arts 'Country Road' and the crew is Mini Arts German Tank Crew. Winter 1943-1945

Apart from the actual construction of the three kits, everything else was a new learning curve.

For more details see the OTB: http://skidsplace.forumotion.com/t1192-tasca-panzer-pzkpfwii-ausfl-luchs-in-winter-diorama

Lot of photos but then there is lot's to see I suppose.

February 19th 1944. Somewhere in the Soviet Union. The 872 day seige of Lenningrad ended on January 27th and the Germans are being pushed back by the Russian army and their mighty T34 tanks.

Our crews tank has suffered badly in the three fearsomely savage winters since the seige began. Moreover, long supply lines means it hasn't been serviced in a long time and is now unreliable.

The crew are dirty, disheveled, dispondent and scared. Now their vehicle has shed a track and they must make repairs or risk being taken prisoner.

Wow, Al, this is a wonderful diorama. Absolutely first rate with the weathering. The thrown track adds a nice story to it .... much better than just a scene with a tank along the road!

Al, I really think this may be your finest piece yet. I looked at the pictures 3 times. Super nice work.

Hi Mr Skid,

This is stunning Sir, with the story and seeing the thrown track, makes you really feel for these guys and their poor tank...

Everything prefect !
Snow plastered on the windward sides of the wagon is a superb touch !! A real artists eye !
Not enough words in the English language to praise this enough!!!!

Thanks Ron.

I think with a dio, a little back story helps to know what was in the builders mind during the construction.
