PostSubject: Monogram '32 Ford Roadster   Thu 29 Aug 2013, 11:58 pm

My Monogram '32 Ford Roadster kit arrived today, and I was looking forward to building a HiBoy Roadster.
I opened the box, and was disappointed it didn't come with a separate chassis/frame. So the Fenderless Roadster idea is off.
I am aware that this kit is not new tooling, but considering that the '32 Roadster is the Iconic Hot Rod,
don't you think that this kit should have originally been produced with this look in mind?

However, checking my 3 years unfinished/red primered Revell 3 window coupe - this too has no separate chassis.
but the latest '32 offering from Revell ('Tudor') has new tooling to build fenderless....and so has the 5 window coupe.

So I think the answer is to complete my set of '32's by buying the 5 window and borrowing the chassis for the roadster project. I'll keep you posted !!

Revell makes a High boy Roadster kit. It has been reboxed several times. You will find all you need in that box.

Okay...I'll have to look for that. That is the sort of information I had hoped for on this forum. Thanks !

I think the last time it came out was in the "Goodguys" Series of Hotrods.

.....actually, in the daylight, I have had another look at my Red Primered 3 window coupe....and it too has a separate chassis frame. My construction must be good....Sorry Revell !

Don't forget that the Monogram '32 is 24th scale, where as the Revell '32's are 25th. I notice that the box for yours says 1:25 (sneaky Revell), but all Monogram tooling was 24th. From memory this kit dates back to the early 60's.

Before Revell released their line of '32's, some modellers removed the fenders from the chassis of the Monogram Roadster to make a high boy.
